SKEGBY PINFOLD
Listed Building
An 18th Century Enclosure in which Stray Animals
were impounded until their owners paid a fine
for their release.
Restored by the Local Authorities in conjunction with the
Nottinghamshire Building Preservation Trust in 1978.

Cruck Cottage



CRUCK COTTAGE (renovated and occupied)

Old Road / Low Road, Skegby
Also known as 'Dodsley's Cottage' and previously 'The Hollies'.

In the mid 1950's this was the scene of an horrendous murder.
On 15 December 1954, 27 year old Local man James (Jimmy) Robinson broke in
and murdered, by strangulation, the elderly resident, Mrs Mary Ann Dodsley.
He was soon caught and hanged at Lincoln Prison on 24 May 1955.

THE QUAKER HOUSE (occupied)
Mansfield Road, Skegby

The Quaker House was the home of the Fearless Elizabeth Hooton,
one of the founders of the Quaker Movement in England.
The House date from the 17th Century.

Skegby Hall & Gardens



SKEGBY HALL AND GARDENS (occupied)
Mansfield Road, Skegby

Skegby Hall and Gardens were built around 1720.
On the foundations of a much earlier building by the Lindley Family.
The Hall has been in continuous occupation to the current time.
